Spotlight on Custom Products: Stretching the Creative Muscles!

We take immense pride in our ability to create custom products and over the years, the opportunity to collaborate with customers on these has been a significant driving force behind our growth and innovation.

Collaborating with clients to create custom products offers our team the unique opportunity to stretch ourselves creatively. Every custom request brings with it a new set of challenges and possibilities, allowing us to explore uncharted territories in design and craftsmanship.

These projects often start as a seed of an idea from a client, which then blossoms into a full-fledged design as we work together to bring their vision to life.

One prime example of the custom pendants we have created is the installation for Nando’s in Newcastle, UK, commissioned by We Are Harrison. The creative thrill that accompanied this order was unparalleled. It allowed us to flex our creative muscles and reimagine the ways our products can be made. The process of designing something entirely new, tailored specifically to the client’s needs, was incredibly fulfilling. It was an opportunity to experiment with new ideas and techniques, ultimately contributing to the evolution of our design language.

The project involved a team of over 20 people and took approximately 12 weeks to complete. The final piece incorporated 118,705 beads and over 2 kilometers of string, resulting in a stunning installation that weighed 700 kilograms and stretched over 15 meters long. This project stands as a testament to our dedication to craftsmanship and our commitment to deliver bespoke designs that embody the client’s vision.

We are fortunate to collaborate with partners such as REDDECO, who appreciate the intricate process of creativity. They were just as excited about the opportunity to try something new with our award-winning Tutu pendants. Their bravery in testing the boundaries of design inspires us to push our limits and showcase what is possible.

The bar installation we created for the Marble Group’s Zioux Restaurant in Joburg’s Sandton pushed us to think outside the box, requiring us to exercise our problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. This particular installation not only illuminated the space but also helped capture the design concept of creating a sensory restaurant-bar. The restaurant’s design is a tongue-in-cheek interpretation of Johannesburg’s moniker, “the urban jungle,” and our custom pendants played a crucial role in evoking the desired emotions and telling the story.

The custom pendants we’ve created at Mash.T Design Studio are more than just light fixtures; they are the result of collaborative creativity and a shared passion for design. These projects have allowed us to grow, innovate, and continually push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of lighting and design. We look forward to many more years of exciting collaborations and the creation of bespoke pieces that illuminate spaces in the most extraordinary ways.
